STITZER, Wis. — Authorities continued looking Sunday for the assailant of a 14 year old Stitzer girl, after a multiple-agency land and air search Saturday night failed to locate the man. Grant Count Sheriff Keith Govier said the girl was on her parent’s property about 5:40 p.m., Saturday, when a middle aged man approached and attacked her. She was able to break away after a struggle and ran into her home. A short time later the suspect was spotted hiding in weeds near where the assault took place and was pursued into a wooded area southeast of Stitzer. The sheriff’s department was assisted in a land search of the area by the Fennimore Police Department, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Stitzer, Fennimore and Lancaster fire departments. They were joined by canine units from Grant and Richland counties and the Prairie du Chien Police Department, as well as a state of Wisconsin airplane equipped with thermal imaging. The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-30s to mid-40s. He is approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet 1 inches tall with
short dark hair. He was wearing a dark, short sleeve shirt, dark jeans and tennis shoes. Anyone knowing a person of that description or having seen someone of that description walking in the Stitzer area within the past five days is asked to contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Department at 608-723-2157
