Some Mediacom customers in the Dubuque area gained four additional channels this week.
The high-definition channels for two popular cable networks, FOX News and Lifetime, were added as part of HD Family Cable. Two new digital channels offered by Iowa Public Television also are available.
FOX News HD is located at channel 756 and Lifetime HD is at channel 763. The high-definition channel additions are part of an expanding roster of HD programming automatically available at no additional cost to Mediacom Family Cable customers equipped for high-definition reception.
"Mediacom customers in northeast Iowa have seen their HD Family Cable lineups expand, and I'm confident that more high-def programming is coming in the months ahead," said Kathy McMullen, Mediacom's senior manager for area operations.
All basic-cable customers are gaining more channels with Mediacom's expansion of basic digital programming that does not require a high-definition television. Iowa Public Television now is offering Learns and World, broadcast in digital transmission. The new additions are available in the channel spectrum readily accessible to all Mediacom customers using digital cable service and to any viewer using a newer television that has a built-in digital tuner.
Learns is located on channel 118. World is at channel 119.
