Fish kill at Buck Creek investigated

Iowa Department of Natural Resources officials are investigating a fish kill at Buck Creek in Clayton County.

The fish kill at Buck Creek, located approximately one mile northwest of Garnavillo, was first reported on June 27. Around three to four miles of the stream has been impacted.

DNR officials found dead fish, including trout, during the investigation.

A second investigation on June 28 found an apparent chemical spill into the stream, along with an open cattle lot where manure might have entered the creek.
