PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Rountree Gallery and Friends of Our Gallery will host several free events during Heritage Day, Saturday, July 4, at the Rollo Jamison & Mining Museum, as well as a monthlong exhibit by the gallery's founder.

The public is invited to participate in creating a picture window mural duplicating Cindy Schave's "The Platteville Mound," a pastel work. Participants will reproduce one of 48 small sections of the artwork, which will be fitted together.

There will be a silent auction fund raiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the museum grounds. Artwork donated for the auction is on display in the window of 85 W. Main St., next to the Driftless Market.

The oil paintings of Robert Tarrell will be on display in the gallery, Wednesdays-Sundays, July 1-26.

Tarrell, who grew up in Platteville, is an art professor at Edgewood College in Madison. The exhibit will feature oil landscape paintings of Wisconsin, as well as Fanjeaux, France, and Cornwall, England.

The Bill Anderson Show tickets on sale

GREEN ISLAND, Iowa -- Mooney Hollow Barn, Music Center and Saloon, will host The Bill Anderson Show, Saturday, Sept. 19. Tickets, at $30, $35 and $40, are available by calling 563-580-9497 or at www.mooneyhollowbarn.com.

"People are already calling me up about tickets," says Kevin Petesch, Mooney Hollow owner. "I've got people calling from as far away as Indiana. He's got like 4,000 people in his fan club."

Anderson's hit songs include "City Lights," "Po' Folks" and "Mama Sang a Song."
