Burglars have hit several homes in Grant County, Wis., in recent days, with as many as seven incidents reported in parts of the county since July 23.
In Mount Hope, deputies are investigating a burglary at the Morris Nichols home on Shady Dell Road.
In Cassville Township, a burglary to a home on Far Nuff Road reportedly took place between July 23 and Wednesday. A back door was forced open and two guns and personal items were taken.
In Potosi Township, two homes on Adams Lane have been burglarized. Sometime after 9 p.m. Wednesday, the residence at 8371 Adams Lane was entered by force through the front door and personal items were stolen. At another home on Adams Lane, the house was entered by force through the back door sometime between July 23 and Friday.
In Patch Grove, Robert George reported that a lawn mower and weed trimmer were stolen from his home. The weed trimmer was recovered in a field behind his house.
In Hazel Green Township, thieves stole several items from vehicles Saturday night on Sandy Hook Road. Grant County deputies are investigating a burglary at the Wayne Kahle residence on 4089 Bluff Road, where someone had entered a garage and stole $2 in change from the vehicle's console and a large black leather CD case. There was no damage to the vehicle. Someone also attempted to break into the vehicle of Kahle's daughter, Jayne Peterson, of Peosta, Iowa, while it was parked at the Kahle residence. Peterson reported minor damage to the window moulding.
Also in Hazel Green Township, Tina Kolb, of 4057 Sandy Hook Road, reported that someone had attempted to steal her car during the overnight hours of Saturday and Sunday. Her vehicle had been parked in front of her residence. Someone reportedly had entered the unlocked car, broken the outer portion of the ignition switch off and attempted to force the ignition.
