2 teens hurt in crash after police chase

STRAWBERRY POINT, Iowa -- Two teenagers were injured Saturday night in a crash after a police chase in rural Clayton County, according to the Strawberry Point Police Department.

The driver, a 16-year-old male from Arlington, was charged with failing to maintain control and eluding after his pickup truck lost control on East Mission Road, rolled several times and came to rest in the ditch.

The driver and a 17-year-old passenger both were taken to Regional Medical Center in Manchester. Both teenagers were treated for minor injuries and released.

Strawberry Point Police Chief Robert Pope declined the TH's request to release the teenagers' names.

Police started to pursue the vehicle around 9 p.m. Saturday night before the pickup lost control.

The Clayton County Sheriff's Department and Clayton County Conservation assisted at the scene.
