House fire claims two lives in Belmont

BELMONT, Wis. - The Belmont Police Department has confirmed two deaths in a residential fire at 218 W. Liberty St.

The names of the victims have not been released.

The fire was reported at approximately 4:10 a.m. this morning.  Belmont fire and EMS and Platteville fire and EMS responded to the blaze.

The fire is being investigated by Belmont police and the state fire marshal.

A Belmont police spokesman said the origin of the fire is not known. No other information is expected to be released until Sunday.

 


Original Story:BELMONT, Wis. — Media reports say two people have died and another person was injured in an early Saturday morning house fire near the intersection of West Liberty and Belmont street in Belmont.
Authorities have not released the names of the victims.
