Ex-governor to be honored

FERRYVILLE, Wis. -- One of Crawford County's native sons will be honored on Monday, Sept. 28, when the Gov. Patrick J. Lucey Historical Marker is dedicated at noon in Ferryville. Lucey was governor of Wisconsin from 1971 to 77.

The marker, reflecting Lucey's long career in government, is located at River View Park on Main Street.

Sherry Quamee, treasurer of the Ferryville Vision and Promotion Board, said Gov. Jim Doyle, former governor Tony Earl and possibly former governor Martin Schreiber will attend, along with other dignitaries and members of the Lucey family.

The program will be followed by a "Meet and Greet" lunch with Lucey and Doyle at the Ferryville Community Center.

The marker cost $4,025 plus the cost of installation.
