Dictionaries donated from Elks to students
About 1,200 dictionaries were donated to area third-grade students this year as part of the Dictionary Project, a national organization with a goal of providing a dictionary to every third-grader in the United States.

The local project, led by the Elks Lodge 297 in Dubuque, has grown during the past four years to include schools not only in Dubuque, but also in Peosta, Epworth and Farley, Iowa.

Sponsors were the Diamond Jo Casino, DuTrac Community Credit Union, American Trust and Savings Bank, Dubuque Bank & Trust and Alliant Credit Union.
