What it's about: The folk dance ensemble named for Pavlo Virsky is famous for its bright colors, unity of content and form. The 70-member ensemble features a live orchestra.

* The ensemble's history dates to 1937 when ballet masters Virsky and Mykola Bolotov brought together a group of folk dancers.

* Virsky headed the ensemble from 1955 to '75.

* Miroslav Vantukh, Virsky's disciple, has led the troupe since 1980.
