Event to teach teens about drinking, driving

Freshmen, sophomores and eighth-grade students in Lancaster and area schools will get to take "The Plunge" again next year.

Because of a $20,000 grant from the Wisconsin Office of Rural Health, the Grant Regional Health Center Foundation will host the event in April.

The event puts teens into the real problems, causes and consequences of underage drinking and driving.

In this year's event, there were three scenarios that were played out: One of the teenagers died, one teen was hospitalized and one teen was charged.

Also assisting with "The Plunge" are the Stop Underage Drinking Now Task Force, Lancaster police, local EMTs and staff of the Grant Regional Health Center.
