Five finalists announced for Dubuque police chief

Five finalists will compete for the Dubuque police chief position.
City officials announced the finalists this afternoon. Of the finalists, Capt. Mark Dalsing is currently the only internal candidate. Dalsing heads the Criminal Investigation Division in the department.
The men will undergo a two-day interview process next month, with a decision announced in late December.
The finalists are:
• Craig Berte, the captain of support services for the Cedar Falls, Iowa, Police Department.
• Mark Dalsing, a captain in the Dubuque Police Department.
• Todd Miller was the police chief for the City of Terrell, Texas, from 2003 to 2008.
• Michael Tupper, the police chief for the City of Nevada, Iowa, a position he has held since 2004.
• Michael Venema, currently a lieutenant with the Davenport, Iowa, Police Department.
