Dubuque Wahlert

Record: 2-6

Tonight: vs. Cedar Rapids Kennedy (3-5)

To qualify: Figuring out the Class 4A substate-qualifying point system requires an advanced mathematics degree, but best we can tell, Wahlert is an extreme longshot to earn a spot even with a victory tonight. It's possible the Golden Eagles are already eliminated. All they can do is beat Kennedy and hope for the best.

Dyersville Beckman

District: Class 2A District 4

Record: 3-5, 3-3 (tied for fourth place)

Tonight: vs. MFL/Mar-Mac (2-6, 2-4)

To qualify: The Trailblazers can clinch fourth place in the district and an Iowa substate berth with a win tonight. If they lose and Cascade (7-1, 5-1) beats Monticello (5-3, 3-3), the Blazers would retain a slim chance to get in on the 13-point tiebreaker, Beckman coach Gregg Hammann said.

Bellevue

District: Class 1A District 4

Record: 5-3, 3-3 (tied for fourth place)

Tonight: at Alburnett (0-8, 0-6)

To qualify: The Comets can lock up fourth place in the district and an Iowa substate bid with a victory tonight. If they lose, they could still land in the postseason if district-leading Clayton Ridge (7-1, 6-0) knocks off North Linn (4-4, 3-3).

Galena

Record: 5-3, 5-2 Northwest Upstate Illini Conference Upstate Division

Tonight: at Orangeville (1-7, 1-6)

To qualify: The Pirates can automatically secure an Illinois playoff berth by beating the Broncos for their sixth win of the season. If the Pirates lose, there is a chance they could still make the playoff field by virtue of the "playoff points" tiebreaker.
