Kirchman retiring from bench

Michael Kirchman is retiring after serving 33 years as Crawford County Circuit Court judge. He will leave the bench at the end of November.

He was first elected in 1976 at age 29 -- one of the youngest judges in the state.

Crawford County's judicial vacancy will be filled in April's spring elections, however the governor might make an interim appointment.

In retirement Kirchman will serve as a reserve judge, a court-appointed mediator, do volunteer work and travel with his wife, Janie.
