The Rev. Tom Bond hopes to see many people with strong faith backgrounds at next weekend's first Christian Conference put on by KFXB-TV. But he also wants those without a church home to come.
"I think it's time for Dubuque-area Christian groups to come together -- Christians and seekers -- to hear the word of Jesus Christ," said Bond, the Christian TV station's general manager.
KFXB-TV is one of 14 stations making up the Christian Television Network, or CTN.
"With everything that's going on -- the economy, high unemployment, so much hurt -- people are reaching out for support," Bond said. "We believe that faith in Jesus Christ is the answer."
The Saturday, Nov. 7, event will include four speakers.
Between speakers and during the opening prayer, Springfield, Ill. Christian singer Meghan Nicole will perform.
"She is very inspiring. She has a terrific voice and really sings from her heart," Bond said.
Bond hopes that through the conference some people seeking answers to their faith questions will learn about the 24-hour Christian programming that his station broadcasts.
