Parking an issue at Dubuque City Council meeting
By Andy Piper
With a handful of parking tickets to help prove his point, Lance Knabel asked the Dubuque City Council to consider changing parking on his block of University Avenue, across from the University of Dubuque, from No Student Parking to Residential. After being directed to the Engineering Department Web site to find the proper forms and procedures, Knabel received some sage advice.
“Make sure you spend some time with Engineering and fully check this out before you ask for it because the answer may be worse than the problem,” Councilman Ric Jones said.
At issue, city code provides two free residential parking stickers per household and Knabel has four adults in his home.
“I see that now,” Knabel said.
