Driver backs over a man with car, police say

A man was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery after authorities say he backed over a man with his car early Sunday near East Dubuque.

Gerad Temperley was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery and released on bond from the Jo Daviess County Jail.

Alex Kirkpatrick was seriously hurt in the incident, said Chief Deputy Colin Fulrath. Kirkpatrick was transported to Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, where he was in fair condition Monday evening.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Sunday on Badger Road near the Pioneer Acres subdivision.

Authorities are investigating the incident and looking into whether it was intentional. Fulrath said reports indicate Temperley and Kirkpatrick were involved in an altercation earlier in the night.
