Iowa's Angerer, UW's Schofield semifinalists

Iowa linebacker Pat Angerer and Wisconsin defensive end O'Brien Schofield have been named semifinalists for the 2009 Chuck Bednarik Award, given annually to the nation's top collegiate defensive player.

Also, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz has been named a semifinalist for the George Munger College Coach of the Year award.

Angerer, a senior from Bettendorf, Iowa, is the Hawkeyes' leading tackler with 89. Iowa is a perfect 9-0 this season, its best start under Ferentz.

Schofield, a senior from Great Lakes, Ill., is tied for the national lead with 16.5 tackles for loss for negative-82 yards. He is second in the Big Ten Conference with 6.5 sacks.
