Iowa author to sign copies of her book
Ransom Noble will sign copies of her self-published novel, "The Art of Science," 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at River Lights Bookstore 2nd Edition, 1098 Main St.

The Des Moines-based writer has a degree in engineering from the University of Iowa.

The book, aimed at middle schoolers, is about Janie Hunter, whose plans for seventh grade (including weekly jam sessions, art club, volleyball and pom squad) change when she qualifies for a special science program. Even when her grades drop, Mom doesn't allow Janie to drop the program.

Life becomes complicated with seeking a balance between her popular friends and the bright kids in her classes, between her academic classes and a love of art. Evenually, she discovers she might be able to combine science and art.
