The Jackson Soil & Water Conservation District will hold its Annual Conservation Awards Banquet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Jackson County Historical Society-Clinton Engines Building, located on the corner of South Clark Street and East Maple Street in Maquoketa.
The Jackson SWCD will recognize individuals who have shown outstanding soil stewardship. The Conservation Award winners for 2009 are Kilburg Scenic Acres and Joe Hoffmann. John Horst will be awarded the Woodland Owner of the Year award.
The Water Quality Improvement Awards will be presented to both Dale Eggers and Bob Eggers in recognition for Outstanding Stewardship in the Farmers Creek Watershed; and to Kevin Knief for his conservation efforts in the Tete Des Morts Watershed.
Donald Wentworth, author and historian, will be the speaker for the evening, giving a presentation titled "The Places of Jackson County."
The banquet tickets are $11 each. Tickets can be paid for at the door, but you must call the office to make a reservation by Tuesday, Nov. 10.
