Peosta and calmar, Iowa NICC honors nontraditional students

In recognition of National Nontraditional Students Week, Nov. 2-6, Northeast Iowa Community College honored nontraditional students enrolled at the Calmar and Peosta campuses.

This fall semester, 70 percent of incoming freshmen were first-generation college students, and more than one-third of NICC's student population is older than 26. Students who are 25 years of age or older are defined as nontraditional students.

At Peosta, the college honored these 10 adult learners: Maria Bryson, Dubuque, practical nursing; Krystle Curler, Dubuque, associate in arts; Ashley Glick McClain, Dubuque, associate in arts-business administration; Christina Holmes, Epworth, associate in arts-education; Kristina Lagunes, Anamosa, associate degree nursing; Diona Montana, Dubuque, associate in arts-education; Latoya Russell, Dubuque, associate in arts-business administration; Mark Spriggs, Dubuque, practical nursing; Dwayne Simpson, Dubuque, associate in science; Ermina Soler, Dubuque, associate in arts-education.
