The game didn't count, but Eric May sure played like it did.
May, a freshman from Dubuque Wahlert, made sigificant contributions Sunday afternoon as Iowa handled Marian (Ind.), 76-53, in an exhibition game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
May scored 10 points, grabbed seven rebounds and two steals while playing 27 minutes off the bench.
"It gives us the atmosphere of a real game," May said. "You get used to all the warm-ups, pregame stuff -- you just get into a routine."
May will play his first game that counts on Sunday, when the Hawkeyes play host to Texas-San Antonio in an O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic preliminary game.
The Hawkeyes jumped to a 10-point lead midway through the first half behind Matt Gatens' strong shooting. He scored 12 of his 14 points in the opening half.
Anthony Tucker led Iowa with 21 points, while Devan Bawinkle chipped in 12.
