3 die from H1N1 complications
DES MOINES -- The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting three more H1N1 flu-related deaths.
Health department officials say one of the latest victims of the H1N1 virus was a child in eastern Iowa.
Adults in Marion and Warren counties also were victims.
Officials said Friday all had risk factors that increased the chance of complications from the H1N1 virus.
The latest deaths brings to 24 confirmed H1N1-related deaths and about 650 hospitalizations in Iowa.
Quadruplets born at Des Moines hospital
DES MOINES -- A Polk County couple, Casey and James Dotzler, of Bondurant, are the proud parents of quadruplets, the first born at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines since 1999.
The four babies were born Wednesday within a minute of each other. The girls, Emme and Sophie were born first, weighing in at 2 pounds, 10 ounces apiece. Then came the boys, Brady weighing in at 2 pounds 12 ounces and Max, the big guy of the group, coming in at 3 pounds, 7 ounces.
Prostitution probe leads to arrests
DES MOINES -- An investigation into prostitution by Des Moines police has led to the arrests of three suspects.
Police say 21-year-old Tiashana Morgan, of Milwaukee, was arrested Thursday and charged with prostitution and marijuana possession. Also arrested were 29-year-old Autumn Hoffman, of Des Moines, and 32-year-old Aaron Jones, of Ankeny. Both were charged with prostitution.
Des Moines Police Sgt. Lori Lavorato refused to say where the three were arrested or describe the scope and nature of the investigation.
Woman accused of several crimes
IOWA CITY -- An Iowa City woman is facing multiple charges in connection with a number of crimes.
Lauren Craig was arrested Thursday on seven warrants for third-degree burglary, third-degree theft, fourth-degree theft and forgery.
