SABULA, Iowa -- An Illinois man is in custody after allegedly shooting a Sabula man early Sunday morning.
David P. Zabransky, 46, of Palatine, Ill., was charged with attempted murder and transported to the Jackson County Detention Center, according to the Sabula Police Department.
He is being held on $25,000 bond, and will have an initial court appearance Monday at the Jackson County Courthouse in Maquoketa.
Zabransky allegedly shot Sheldon Woodhurst, 46, of Sabula, in the 400 block of Pearl Street around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
Woodhurst was found with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to Mercy Hospital in Clinton, and later airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
No information was available Sunday evening on Woodhurst's condition, according to a UIHC spokesperson.
Zabransky was also airlifted to UIHC. He was treated and released.
