Tri-state music groups to perform

More than 50 students from the tri-state area will perform at Five Flags Theater, at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, as the Dubuque Youth Ensembles.

Performers will include the Dubuque Youth String Ensemble, directed by Michelle Mentz, Dubuque Community School orchestra teacher; the Dubuque Youth Symphony Orchestra, directed by Barry Ellis, professor of music at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville; and solo flutist Hannah Eby, of Dubuque.

She has studied flute privately for six years, and has been a member of the Dubuque Youth Symphony Orchestra for three years. She has made appearances with the UW-Platteville flute choir, the University of Dubuque Chamber Singers and the Julien Chamber Choir.

Eby, who will perform the Mozart Flute Concerto, is a home-schooled junior who also takes classes at Dubuque Senior High School.

Tickets are $6 adults and $4 children 12 and younger.

Bobby Vee's holiday show coming to the Moon Bar

The Mississippi Moon Bar at the Diamond Jo Casino will present Bobby Vee's Up North Holiday Show 3 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.

The shows will feature the best of Bobby Vee's holiday music and chart-topping hits.

Tickets for the show are $25, $30, $35 and $40 and can be purchased through the Mississippi Moon Bar.

All Diamond Jo shows are 21 and older.
