Twenty-five University of Dubuque students are traveling for nine days throughout England as part of this school year's Art and Culture England study tour.
The tour, which began Nov. 21, marks the 26th international studies trip for UD students since 2000.
As with each of UD's short-term study opportunities, the goal for this trip is to increase student awareness of the global community. The trip focuses on the culture of Renaissance England as expressed in painting, sculpture and theater.
Highlights include walking tours of London with visits to the British Museum, Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery, St. Martins, Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London.
The short-term study abroad program has grown steadily. Programs offered bring international experience to more students, including many who are not able to consider an entire semester of study abroad.
"International study trips mean much more than sightseeing," said Phyllis Garfield, coordinator of the international studies program. "We expect our students to return, even from a short study trip, with new knowledge about their world."
