4 inducted into County Hall of Fame

The Jackson County Historical Society inducted four citizens into the Jackson County Hall of Fame at its annual Heritage Dinner in November.

The four inductees are Helen Stoddard, Alfred Giddings, Harold Giddings and Ed Kirchhoff.

Stoddard taught for 30 years at Clinton Community College. She also was a teacher in the Maquoketa Community School District, Clinton Community College and the University of Dubuque.

Alfred Giddings was a horticulturist in the Sabula area, while Harold Giddings was a longtime publisher of papers about Jackson County bird sightings.

Kirchhoff was one of the first licensed beer distributors in Iowa when prohibition ended in 1933.
