Flexsteel donates furniture

Flexsteel Industries Inc. has joined forces with The Evanosky Foundation and its House of Hope project in Durham, N.C.

Families who have children with metabolic disorders going through the transplant process at Duke University's Children's Hospital can stay at the house.

Flexsteel is donating more than $15,000 of furniture and plans to do the same at a second home scheduled for completion this month.

"It's a tough battle for these families and having a comfortable place to recover is priceless," said Mike Smith, Flexsteel's chief designer, in a statement.

Smith helped design the interior decor. His nephew received a transplant at the children's hospital.

A transplant procedure typically requires families to stay in the area for five to 10 months.
