Warning against "monopolized, unchecked power," Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin made a last-day appeal for votes in a noisy rally at Dubuque's Grand River Center.
Without Republican John McCain as president, Palin warned about 3,500 supporters that Democratic control of the House, Senate and White House will allow the "far-left-wing of Democrats" to take over the federal government.
Making her last appearance in the Midwest before flying back to her home state to vote today, the Alaskan governor cautioned against left-wing Democrats whom she said are poised to reduce the defense budget by a quarter.
"Let's not retreat from wars that are almost won," Palin urged the cheering crowd.
