Scholastic Journalist Award selection criteria:
· Nominees must be seniors at high schools in the Telegraph Herald service area.
· Nominees must be active in the editorial aspect (news, web, sports, features, photo and art/graphics) of newspapers.
The application consists of:
· A letter from the journalism adviser or faculty member, detailing the student's activities and performance in newspaper journalism.
· Six non-returnable published works, mounted on 8 ½ x 11-inch sheets and accompanied by the student's written comments about the portfolio. The works may include articles published in newspapers other than school publications, such as community weeklies or the TH.
· An essay by the nominee concerning the impact journalism has had on him or her personally. Essays should be no more than 500 words.
· Judges' decisions are final.
Applications are due April 4, 2008
