UW-Platteville crops team places 2nd in recent contests
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville collegiate crops team placed second in the Kansas City, Kan., and Chicago collegiate crops contests.
The UW-P team has placed second in these contests 25 times and first 10 times. The UW-P team won the seed analysis phase in both contests and placed second in the identification phases and commercial grain grading phases. Kansas State University won both contests.
In Kansas City, Emma Addy, a sophomore soil and crop science major from Cascade, Iowa, was the top individual with 591 points out of 600. Overall, Garrett Badtke, a sophomore soil and crop science major from Mount Carroll, Ill., placed fourth; Addy placed fifth and Austin Underdahl, a sophomore soil and crop science major from DeForest, Wis., placed sixth.
In Chicago, Badtke placed first with 595 points out of 600. Underdahl placed second with 591 points out of 600, and Brittany Iverson, a sophomore soil and crop science major from Oconto Falls, Wis., placed sixth in seed analysis. Overall, Badtke placed fourth, Iverson placed fifth and Underdahl placed sixth in Chicago.
Grant County FSA office seeks minority, female candidates
LANCASTER, Wis. -- The Grant County Farm Service Agency office seeks minority and female producers interested in serving as an adviser to the FSA county committee.
Nominations should be sent to the FSA Office by Jan. 22. Appointments are for a 12-month period, effective March 1.
