No one was injured in an apartment fire at 2641 Owen Court today, according to Fire Chief Dan Brown.
All residents of the 12-unit complex were evacuated, and firefighters were eventually able to control the blaze. The fire is believed to have originated in an attic area, but Brown said the investigation is ongoing.
Hank Linden, a resident of the building, believes the fire may be the result of a lightning strike. He said he was awakened by a loud boom early this morning, four or five hours before firefighters evacuated the building at around 8:30 a.m.
“It was like a stick of dynamite going off,” Linden said.
Brown said the lightning strike angle will be explored.
Utilities at the building have been turned off, Brown said, and the residents will likely be displaced for a time. The building isn’t believed to be a total loss, he added.
