The Loras College Duhawk Dance Marathon stands as the number one fundraiser per-capita in the nation, according to a school official.
Associate Dean of Students Kim Walsh said students raised $201,177.35 during the ninth annual dance marathon Saturday.
The money will be donated to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network. A new surgical center playroom at the hospital will be named after the marathon.
Loras became the first college with fewer than 2,000 students to raise more than $200,000 in such an event. Last year, the marathon netted $183,912.
Loras has been first in the nation in per-capita fund raising each year since 2009.
