DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- The Field of Dreams will not host professional baseball in 2014, but efforts to find an owner for a local team are ongoing, according to a movie site owner.
Denise Stillman, president and CEO of Go the Distance Baseball, which owns the Field of Dreams and the planned All-Star Ballpark Heaven sports complex, said Friday that the revamped Northern League will not have teams ready to play this season. However, she said league leadership is still seeking ownership for a team at the site.
A message requesting comment left at Northern League offices was not immediately returned.
Stillman said plans for All-Star Ballpark Heaven have not been modified.
Six fields, including a larger stadium that could be home to the Northern League team, will be built during the first phase of construction. When complete, the complex will have 24 fields for youth baseball and softball tournaments.
