PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Robert Jinkins, senior fine arts major at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, received the Joseph E. Burk award from the 2013 annual Wisconsin Regional Art Association.

The award, for his painting "Almost Home," included a $200 prize. His work also was chosen for the WRAA conference during a regional art show last October.

Jinkins is from Rewey, Wis. His work is realistic and mirrors his rural upbringing. For many of his paintings, Jinkins uses photographs of farms in the southern Wisconsin area.

Jinkins has three other paintings hanging in the Rountree Gallery at 385 E. Main St., and another the dining facility in Bridgeway Commons.

The paintings located in the Rountree Gallery were made possible through the Pioneer Undergraduate Research Fellowship, which provided Jinkins with funds to purchase his painting supplies.
