Filmmaker: Palin will attend premiere

PELLA -- A filmmaker said former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will travel to Iowa to attend the premiere of a documentary about her time as governor and rise as a political figure.

Victory Film Group announced Saturday that Palin and her husband, Todd, will attend the first public screening of "The Undefeated" on Tuesday at the Pella Opera House in Pella.

It will be Palin's first stop in Iowa in seven months. She last visited the state as part of a book tour.

Missouri River breaches levee

MISSOURI VALLEY -- Water is breaching a levee in Harrison County and residents are being warned that they might need to flee.

The Iowa Department of Transportation reported the levee holding back the Missouri River was breached Saturday morning south of Missouri Valley.

Hamilton County officials told KETV-TV the breach spanned 100 yards. The county was going door-to-door, warning residents an evacuation might be ordered.

The Transportation Department said U.S. Highway 30 between Missouri Valley and Blair, Neb., remains open.

65 Guard members return home

JOHNSTON -- Some 65 members of the Iowa National Guard are back from Afghanistan.

The 734th Agribusiness Development Team arrived Saturday at Johnston High School, where Gov. Terry Branstad thanked the soldiers. The Des Moines Register reported 1,200 people were on hand.

The unit left for Afghanistan in August. While there, the soldiers started or expanded six demonstration farms in Kunar Province, helped plant 70,000 trees and trained farmers.

Inmate missing from work-release facility

BURLINGTON -- An Iowa inmate is missing from a work-release facility in Burlington.

The state Department of Corrections said 35-year-old Anthony Walls was listed Friday night as an escapee after an unexcused absence.

Walls has been incarcerated since November 2007 and was transferred to the Burlington facility last month. He's serving a 10-year sentence for willful injury causing bodily injury and third-offense operating while intoxicated out of Henry and Des Moines counties.
