EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. -- A judge Thursday denied an appeal for sentence modification of an East Dubuque woman who embezzled more than $140,000 from her employer.

Judge William Kelly ruled that Jill Jackoniski, 42, should serve her original sentence of 364 days in the Jo Daviess County Jail with work-release privileges.

Jackoniski, who pleaded guilty last month to embezzlement, had asked for the sentence to be changed to house arrest.

Jackoniski formerly worked as payroll supervisor for Hirschbach Trucking, of East Dubuque, until it was discovered she was advancing money on debit cards intended for Hirschbach drivers and then cashing the cards at an East Dubuque bank and at Dubuque casinos.

As part of her sentence, she also was ordered to pay full restitution of $144,282.80 plus probation fees and serve four years of probation.
