DES MOINES -- President Barack Obama leads Republican challenger Mitt Romney in Iowa by five percentage points, 47-42, in a Des Moines Register poll released Saturday night.
According to the Register, the poll surveyed 800 likely Iowa voters from Tuesday through Friday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percent.
Iowa has been considered a swing state throughout the 2012 campaign.
Rasmussen and University of Iowa polls released last week both showed Romney with a one-point lead over Obama. Another, by Public Policy Polling, showed Obama leading by five points, 50-45.
