Dyersville’s new mayor has promised to dismiss a zoning infraction against a new City Council member.
In a letter to the council, Mayor Alvin Haas said he will direct the city attorney to dismiss without prejudice a zoning citation filed against at-large Council Member Mark Wagner. The infraction, filed by City and Zoning Administrator Mick Michel, alleged Wagner and his wife violated the city’s zoning laws through the use of their home-based business.
In the letter, Haas said he believed the infraction was filed in retaliation of Wagner’s decision to run for the council seat. He said it is time to “put aside petty squabbles” and focus on council duties.
