If members of the Dubuque Tea Party have anything to say about it, Congressman Ron Paul of Texas will be the next Republican nominee for president of the United States, though it's unlikely the 83 people who voted in the local Tea Party Straw Poll will be given that much power.
Paul won a five-round technical knockout, winning each round with little difficulty. Candidates were eliminated after each round. Paul won the final round with 59 votes. Newt Gingrich was second with 24.
