POSTVILLE, Iowa — Six Allamakee County students were injured following a school bus crash Friday morning.
Six students and the bus driver were transported to a hospital in Waukon. Five of the students and the bus driver were treated and released. The sixth student was transferred to a hospital in La Crosse, Wis., for further treatment.
The names and ages of the students involved have not been released. The accident remains under investigation by the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Department.
At approximately 7:15 a.m., the sheriff’s department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Hawkweed Drive and Ludlow Road near Postville.
According to press release from the sheriff’s office, a Postville Community School District bus lost control at the intersection, and entered a ditch, eventually coming to a stop in a residential yard. Icy road conditions are believed to have been a factor in a the crash.
