The annual Special Olympics Iowa Winter Games return to Dubuque this week.

More than 400 athletes will compete in skiing, skating and other events.

Tonight's opening ceremonies will be held at 6 p.m. at the Grand River Center.

"The opening ceremonies and the competitions are excellent times for the public to attend and show their support for the athletes," said Special Olympics Iowa Interim President and CEO Rich Fellingham.

The games continue through Wednesday, Jan. 16.
