CASSVILLE, Wis. — Wisconsin Power and Light will shut down its coal-fired power plant at Cassville and the Edgewater Three coal plant in Sheboygan.
Company officials said both plants are at least 50 years old and they are the smallest plants the utility has.
Spokesman Steve Schultz reported the Nelson Dewey generating stations in Cassville will be shutting down at the end of 2015. Wisconsin Power and Light, a subsidiary of Alliant Energy, made the announcement on Friday. The plant employs 56 people.
