St. Mark Community Center lost two leaders within a week of each other.

Sister Inez Turnmeyer resigned as executive director, effective Nov. 4. Karen Tuecke left her position as development and marketing director, effective Nov. 11.

"The timing is very unfortunate, but it is simply a coincidence," said Michelle Covey, who is serving as interim director. The center's board of directors is interviewing candidates this week.

Turnmeyer, a Dubuque Franciscan sister, resigned "for personal and health reasons," according to Covey, who would not elaborate. Covey did not know if there would be a public reception to honor Turnmeyer in the future.

Tuecke left to work as the marketing manager at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
