Ruby A. Plaisted, 95, of Heritage Manor, formerly of 1002 Maquoketa Drive, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at Heritage Manor.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where friends may call after 1 p.m. today. Burial will be in Atlantic Memorial Cemetery, Atlantic, Iowa.
She was born on Sept. 25, 1914, in Atlantic, daughter of Arthur and Dessie (Smith) McFarland. She married Donald Anderson on June 13, 1931, in Kearney, Neb. She married Robert Plaisted on Jan. 21, 1956, in Anaheim, Calif.; he preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1987.
Ruby owned and operated Ruby's Diner in the '40s and '50s in Des Moines.
In September of 1988, she moved to Dubuque to be closer to her family.
Ruby loved to sew, paint ceramics and be with her poodles.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirley (Darrell) Eickel-kamp, of Dubuque; five granddaughters, Peggy Steffen, of Annapolis, Md., Linda Eickelkamp, of Boise, Idaho, Carol (Kevin) Doerr, of McFarland, Wis., Karen (Tom) Wilson, of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Susan Eickel-
kamp, of Oregon, Wis.; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-granddaughters.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Don McFarland; and a sister, Maurine McFarland, in infancy.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
