Charles J. "Chuck" Lenz, 44, of 3761 S. Bend Road, Rockford, Ill., formerly of 2908 19th St., Rockford and Dubuque, died suddenly at 9:29 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, doing what he loved, enjoying the outdoors.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at St. Joseph's Church, Key West, Iowa, with the Rev. Donald Bakewell officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, Ill., where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m.

He was born on Jan. 1, 1967, in Dubuque, son of Willard and Jeanette (Dunne) Lenz. Chuck attended Dubuque Senior High School.

He moved to Rockford, where he worked for the Rockford Dynacorp and SPX Corp. as a CNC programmer.

Chuck had a love for the Lord and enjoyed reading his Bible. He loved spending time with his wife and kids in the outdoors, camping and fishing. He especially loved watching them play softball. Chuck was a loving and caring person who was always there for you. He had great morals and values. Chuck loved playing his guitar and listening to Christian music. He also enjoyed spending time tinkering in his garage.

Surviving are his wife, Eileen Lenz; his children, Devon, Hailie and Kristian Lenz, all of Rockford; his mother, Jeanette Wampler, of Dubuque; three brothers, Dan (Cathy) Lenz, of Bernard, Iowa, Ken Lenz, of Cuba City, Wis., and Rich (Pam) Lenz, of Centralia, Iowa; two sisters, Kathleen (Michael) Shaw, of Rockford, and Margie (James) Gaylord, of Dubuque; his mother-in-law, Mae Jernigan, of Rockford; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Lenz; and a brother, Larry Lenz.

In lieu of flowers, a Charles "Chuck" Lenz Memorial Fund has been established.
